The Leura Village Fair

The Leura Village Fair, which is being held on the weekend of October 6th– 7th. Hosted by the Leura Village Association, the fair is a feast of colour, music and wonderful things to buy. It is held in Leura Mall among the beautiful blossom trees which line this famous thoroughfare.

The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre

Blue Mountains Cultural Centre is hosting an exhibition entitled“Blue Mountains Botanica” from 25 August – 14 October. Developed in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney & Domain Trust, Blue Mountains Botanica delves into the history of botanical exploration of the Blue Mountains and features historical botanical illustrations, plant specimen and archival material drawn from the National Herbarium of NSW and the Daniel Solander Library.

The Society of Mountain Artists’ Art Exhibition

This is being held during the week of the Festival at “Leura Fairways”, Fitzroy Street, Leura, and among the works featured are many done by the artists in the festival gardens. The works are for sale.

Everglades Art Gallery

37 Everglades Avenue, Leura.

The Festival all-gardens ticket is valid at Everglades from 29 September – 7 October. The cost for non-ticket holders is $13.

Ticket includes entry into Everglades Gallery which is hosting an exhibition by Alison Jane Rice entitled “Botanical Theatre: Garden of Heavenly Delights” from 11:00am – 3:00pm daily throughout the festival. Click here to visit Everglades website.

Festival of Music and Flowers

St Albans Church, Megalong Street, Leura

  • 5 – 6 October – 10:00am to 4:00pm and 7 October – 12noon to 2:00pm.  

This week, or any time, a visit to the following is highly recommended:

  • Scenic World, Cliff Drive, Katoomba, for rides on the famous Scenic Railway, Cableway and Skyway. These amazing rides show you the mountains in a way nowhere else possible.
  • The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Bells Line of Road, Mt Tomah, to see a stunning cold climate botanical garden. It is worth a day on its own, with so much to see, an interesting gift shop and an excellent restaurant with a view to die for.
  • Mayfield Garden, an amazing 160-acre garden property at 530 Mayfield Road, Oberon, west of the mountains.
  • Bygone Beautys, Leura, to see the world’s largest private collection of teawares. The amazing new premises holds a collection of over 5,500 teapots, 7,000 teaspoons and 3,000 tea towels and a number of other tea-related artefacts.
  • Or take a trolley ride with Blue Mountains Trolley Tours and enjoy a leisurely on-off visit to 29 wonderful sights in Katoomba and Leura.
