Leura Gardens Festival

Saturday 4th October to Sunday 12th October. 2014

The Leura Gardens Festival  Committee has been successfully nominated for a 2014 Seniors Week Recognition Award  for its outstanding contribution to the community.

The original home and grounds were established in 1919, and Noel Roscoe's family have lent their own flavour to this orchard inspired garden for more than 60 years. The abundant fruit trees and the low stone walls built by Sorensen give a delightful mountains feel to this garden.

Davaar is in the festival for the second time this year and is a most welcome addition.

Since acquiring Rustlings in 2000, Peter and Claudia Fisk have transformed it to create a wonderfully tranquil and inviting garden.

Brabourne and its surrounding garden occupy a commanding location and are known for magnificent trees and sweeping lawns.

Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort

Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort was created by Paul Sorensen for Lady Mabel Fairfax in 1933 and Sorensen Nurseries were involved in the care of the gardens until the 1980's.

Dead End House

The planting of this magnificent garden was begun by the Cox family in the 1950's, but the design today is largely attributable to the present owners, Robert Brain and Neal Blewett

"Tandella" was first established in the mid 1950's as attested by the mature trees which are a feature of this property covering an acre of land.  Over the last eight years the owners have worked towards reconstructing a park-like calming garden.

"Wai-Ila" is named after the yellowtailed black cockatoos that feed on the many Banksias in summer.

Ewanrigg is a garden which has featured in the Leura Gardens Festival for almost 50 years and it makes a welcome return this year.

Leura Gardens Festival 2014

Celebrating 50 years of Spring in the Blue Mountains

Saturday 4th - Sunday 12th October 2014

The Leura Gardens Festival is this year celebrating 50 successful years with the opening of 11 wonderful gardens, some of which took part in the original festival in 1964, plus a program of events designed to entertain and inform.

As well as several gardens new to the Festival, 2014 welcomes back old favourites that have not been shown in some time, as well as some of our most popular regulars.  Other Festival highlights will include the always popular Music in the Gardens, one day of horticultural talks and the Festival plant sales centre which offers a wide range of plants including this year, the special 50-year celebration souvenir plant "Leura Gold".

Click here for more information on the Festival.

The Leura Gardens Festival is a registered charity managed and run by over 300 local volunteers. All funds raised go towards the purchase of equipment for the Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital and other local medical foundations.
